Dental Insurance & Payment Policy
 

Dear Patient,

As dentistry continues to offer new opportunities and choices to patients, we continue to experience dramatic changes and reductions in dental benefit coverage.  We will do everything we can to help you utilize your insurance to the fullest extent as it applies to your dental treatment and to make the process hassle-free.  We feel that it is important that we work with you and your insurance company.  Insurance can be expensive, and if you have benefits that will assist you with your treatment, then we will help you apply them.

Many dental practices no longer accept payment from dental benefit companies for the following reasons:

1.     Dental benefits are a contract between the patient and their employer/dental benefit company, not the dentist.

2.     Cheques are sent directly to patients, not the dentist.

3.     Dental insurance companies do not inform the dental practices of changes with their plans.

4.     Dental insurance companies often refuse to give dental practices information, in order to protect the patient’s privacy.

5.     Dental benefits may not cover 100% of the current practice fee guide. 

Most practices in Alberta charge fees that are above the “usual and customary fees” allowed by insurance companies.  Our dental practice fees reflect the quality and service you receive at our practice based on our expertise and the materials and techniques we provide in our dedication to your care.  Our patients have kindly told us our prices are very competitive with other offices in our area and in line with the major insurance companies that have kept their fee schedules up to date.  We do not follow any one insurance company to establish our fees and we are committed to keeping our fees affordable without compromising your level of care.

We encourage our patients to be familiar with their dental plans, to eliminate disappointment with payment for necessary treatments or frequency limitations that may not be covered.

We are more than happy to process your insurance claim so you can be reimbursed directly, but we do require payment on the day of the appointment before you leave the office.  We accept cash, debit, MasterCard, American Express, and Visa.  By paying with a credit card, our clients often do not have to provide out-of-pocket payment since they receive the insurance cheques (usually within 2-5 days when we file electronically) prior to receiving their credit card statement – your insurance money is already in your account to pay off your credit card conveniently and hassle-free.  We’ll do everything we can to make sure you can get the benefits from the insurance company you deserve with your assistance
